The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean have a long-standing reputation for being the perfect holiday destination for all ages. It isn’t just British tourists who flock to the islands each year either; Spanish people from the mainland love the laidback lifestyle, wonderful scenery and great beaches as well.

Majorca

Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is known as a perfect family holiday destination, but it also has a vibrant party side. Young Spanish holidaymakers have been heading for the town of Magaluf on the west coast for many years. In fact it has a reputation to rival that of sister island Ibiza when it comes to knowing how to party.

The biggest nightclub in the whole of Europe, BCM Planet Dance, is located in Magaluf.

Magaluf

The Mediterranean sunshine, classic, sandy beaches and wide range of entertainment on offer throughout the day and night means that Magaluf holidays are booked by everyone, from party-loving singles to couples with families.

The town really became a major attraction back in the 1960s when the first waves of mass tourist package holidays began to make the idea of flying abroad something everybody could afford.

Although there are plenty of karaoke bars, cafés, tapas restaurants and discos around the town, the most vibrant nightlife is restricted to the party district of Punta Ballena, and the more family-orientated complexes are situated firmly away from the town centre.

Activities

As Magaluf is only ten miles from the island’s historic capital of Palma, there are plenty of opportunities to take in the culture and history of Majorca. There are also great shopping opportunities in the city, from top-of-the-range boutiques, through to locally made craft items and souvenirs.

Magaluf also has a wide range of water sports and activities, from pedalo boats through to jet skiing and kite surfing for the more adventurous holidaymaker.

There is also plenty to keep the kids occupied, with two water parks, a Wild West theme park and pirate shows. However, much of the appeal of Magaluf obviously lies in the swathes of sandy beaches found along Palma Bay.

All year round appeal

Magaluf is great all year round, with high season giving the hottest temperatures and the busiest clubbing crowds. Out-of-season breaks in spring and autumn however, are becoming increasingly popular with young families.

Whatever the reason, a holiday to Magaluf can provide you with exactly what you need in terms of a wonderful getaway.
